Disability Placement Project

The Disability Placement Project engages with industries to encourage the employment of persons with a disability and provides recruitment and workplace support to employers. DWA also aims to facilitate and enhance the employment of people with disabilities by providing the Disability Employment Network agencies with a single, free and effective contact point for recruiting people with a disability.

The 2007/08 Project is being delivered by Disability Works Australia (DWA). Disability Training and Employment Program

The Disability Training and Employment Project enhances the training and employment pathways for youth with a disability. The Project for 2006/07 is being delivered by Finding Workable Solutions Incorporated (FWS).The Program has the following three key transition stages:

  • Development of general employability skills within a group training environment
  • Structured workplace learning via a traineeship placement or other paid employment
  • Registration with a Disability Employment Agency for on-the-job training and post-placement support

FWS provides a Project Co-ordinator to:
 

  • identify appropriate school leavers for participation in the program
  • work collaboratively with schools, VET providers and local services to create vocational training and placement opportunities
  • link participants with Disability Employment agencies for long term job maintenance support
