About Regional Development Australia, Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu & Kangaroo Island

Regional Development Australia, Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu & Kangaroo Island is an independent Incorporated body funded by the Australian Government and South Australian Government, Adelaide Hills Council, the District Council of Mount Barker, Alexandrina Council, City of Victor Harbor, Yankalilla District Council and the Kangaroo Island Council. It was created for the purpose of facilitating sustainable economic development in the Adelaide Hills Region. The Board consists of 14 members, with representatives from the above councils and business and community leaders in the Region.

The Board's vision is:

"To be - recognised by its peers, for excellence in promoting sustainable economic development in the Adelaide Hills Region."

The Board's vision for the Region is:

"To be - a vibrant, sustainable and diverse mix of residential, business, government and community enterprise and services, that contributes more to the economic, environmental and social well-being of the state than would be proportional to its population size."

 

Regional Development Australia, Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu & Kangaroo Island focusses its activities on:

  • Influencing the development and implementation of local, state and commonwealth government policies on Regional matters;
  • Working with key stakeholders to identify and deliver appropriate business and social infrastructure to meet the current and future needs of the Region;
  • Working with government, business and industry representatives and bodies, as well as local communities, to develop and implement strategies for industry growth and long-term regional prosperity, including investment attraction, infrastructure provision and information provision;
  • Providing advice and assistance to existing and new businesses, business networks, prospective investors, the community, and local, state and commonwealth agencies on matters related to sustainable economic development in the Region; and
  • Working with businesses, all levels of government, non-government agencies and the wider community to develop and deliver employment and training programs that enable the local employment of residents and provide a skilled workforce for Regional industries, businesses and services.
